Where two or three are gathered

Today we didn’t have church because of the snow and the power outages.  In fact we have a mix of sleet and snow coming down now. That got me to thinking. You don’t have to have a ton of people to ‘have’ church.

In fact the Bible says:

Matthew 18:20 (New International Version)

20For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”

Thinking about it some of the best ‘church’ experiences that I’ve had have been with just a few people. The greatest thing (to me anyway) about going to church is that we get to recharge our batteries and to fellowship with other people.

It reminds me of a saying that was over the exit of a church we attended “You are Now Entering the Mission Field”. As you enter the mission field this week (and for most of us it will be a short week), how will people realize that you love Jesus.

For some reason I’ve had a tune stuck in my head almost all week. I’m not sure why, and it hasn’t been a Christmas Carol, but if you think about it, it has a lot to do with Christmas… after all Jesus came to earth so he could “pay it all”.

  1. I hear the Savior say,
    “Thy strength indeed is small;
    Child of weakness, watch and pray,
    Find in Me thine all in all.”

    • Refrain:
      Jesus paid it all,
      All to Him I owe;
      Sin had left a crimson stain,
      He washed it white as snow.
  2. For nothing good have I
    Whereby Thy grace to claim;
    I’ll wash my garments white
    In the blood of Calv’ry’s Lamb.
  3. And now complete in Him,
    My robe, His righteousness,
    Close sheltered ’neath His side,
    I am divinely blest.
  4. Lord, now indeed I find
    Thy pow’r, and Thine alone,
    Can change the leper’s spots
    And melt the heart of stone.
  5. When from my dying bed
    My ransomed soul shall rise,
    “Jesus died my soul to save,”
    Shall rend the vaulted skies.
  6. And when before the throne
    I stand in Him complete,
    I’ll lay my trophies down,
    All down at Jesus’ feet.

Thanks Jesus so much for paying it all!!
