Imagine for a moment

You are in a valley that is beautiful beyond words. The temperature is perfect, dusk is falling and sounds of animals foraging for supper fill the air. In the middle of the valley is a lake. Filled with crystal clear blue water and even though it is deep you can see the bottom. A falls is nearby and the lake is filled with a variety of fish of all different sizes, shapes and colors.

You make your way toward the lake and you see two men sitting on some rocks gazing out at the lake. A fire is between them. Even though the valley is perfect you can feel a deep sadness that is coming from them. They stare at each other from time to time, speaking without word and then they stare out at the water.

The older man breaks the silence by turning to the younger man and saying, “It’s almost time”.

The younger man looks, nods his head and replies, “Yes Father”. Tears begin to stream gently down his face. His voice quivering he adds, “I’ll miss you”.

His Father reaches to him, tears now streaming down his face, “I will miss you too, but I LOVE them SO much.”

John 3:16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Think about how God and Jesus felt during the hours and days before he came to Earth. He knew his Son would be ridiculed, mocked, spat on, and finally crucified. Yet he sent him for YOU and ME.

Take a moment today and during the days ahead as we celebrate Christmas to thank God for sending his Son Jesus. Because of them you can have life….
